BIM
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is changing how buildings, infrastructure, and utilities are planned, designed, built, and managed. There is a common misconception that modelling a project in 3D constitutes a BIM project, this is not the case. BIM is a process that involves creating and using an intelligent 3D model collaboratively to inform and communicate project decisions amongst the entire design team.
Although BIM is a relatively new technology, it has been fully embraced by Form and we believe it can offer many benefits:
• Improved visualisation
• Improved productivity due to easy retrieval of information
• Increased coordination of construction documents
• Increased speed of delivery
• Reduced costs
In 2014 Form completed the first building in the UK to be delivered with an LOD 500 as built BIM model, the visitor centre and kiosks for the new Queen Elizabeth Park on the Olympic site in Stratford.
